Bengaluru: With the country all geared up to celebrate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to mark 75 years of India’s independence, news have been pouring in from different parts on the government’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ programme.

People in a small taluk in Karnataka’s Hubali-Dharwad district are looking to create a world record by holding a massive Tricolour.

More than 50,000 people are preparing to carry the 9-kilometre long and 9-feet wide Indian flag on August 15.

The unique initiative is the brainchild of former Congress MLA Santhosh Lad, a philanthropist and president of Santhosh Laad Foundation.

Last year, the Santhosh Laad Foundation made it to the India Book of Records when 8,000 people carried a 2-km long and 9-feet wide Tricolour in a rally on Independence Day. This time, they are attempting to go much bigger and enter the World Book of Records.

People of all ages of Kalaghatgi-Alnavar taluk are expected hold the gigantic flag to become part of history on Monday.
