Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Sunday that the state government will provide Y-category security to the three High Court judges, including Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi, who upheld the ban on hijab.
Bommai’s statement came after a video surfaced, in which a man is seen issuing threats against the three judges. Speaking to reporters here, he said everyone should obey the verdict of the judiciary and there is every opportunity in the system for appeal.
The three-judge bench also comprised Justices Krishna Dixit and Khazi M Jaibunnisa.
A person has been arrested in Tamil Nadu after the video came to light. Bommai has ordered the state DGP to look into the case.
