Mumbai: There was no stopping Yashasvi Jaiswal (93* off 53) and Shubman Gill (58* off 39) as the openers guided Team India to a rollicking 10-wicket victory against Zimbabwe in the fourth T20 International at Harare Sports Club on Saturday.
Following a shocking hiccup in the first game exactly a week ago, the Gill-led new-age Indian side got its act together to take an unbeatable 3-1 series lead.
Opting to chase, Indian bowlers did well to restrict Zimbabwe to 152/7 in 20 overs on a good batting track.
The start was encouraging for the home team as Tadiwanashe Marumani (32) and Wessly Madhevere (25) put on 63. But once the openers fell in back-to-back overs off part-timers Abhishek Sharma and Shivam Dube, respectively, none but skipper Sikandar Raza (46 off 28 balls) managed to dominate the Indian attack.
Left-arm seamer Khaleel Ahmed picked up two wickets in the final over, while debutant Tushar Deshpande, Washington Sundar, Abhishek and Shivam claimed one apiece.
Yashasvi, who missed out on a big score in the previous match, went all guns blazing. The left-hander peppered both sides of the wicket with some delectable strokes, helping himself to 13 fours and 2 sixes.
Gill took a little longer to open up before striking 6 elegant boundaries and 2 sixes as he brought up his second consecutive half-century.
