New Delhi: Religious leader Yati Narsinghanand, who last month organised an event in Haridwar that called for the genocide of Muslims, now has been remanded in the Dharam Sansad hate speech case too, officials were quoted as saying by NDTV.
Narsinghanand was put under arrest on Saturday for objectionable statements on women of other religions. He was sent to 14-day judicial custody on Sunday. But according to police officers, Dharam Sansad hate speech case was also mentioned in the remand application.
“The charges (in the Dharam Sansad hate speech case) include 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) and 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs),” the police officer said.
Narsinghanand was sent to 14-day judicial custody by a Haridwar court.
The head priest of the Dasna temple in Ghaziabad, Yati Narsinghanand, was picked up on Saturday night from Sarvanand Ghat of the Ganga. He was arrested while staging a ‘satyagraha’ against the arrest of another accused in the case, Jitendra Narayan Tyagi.
Tyagi was earlier known as Waseem Rizvi before he converted to Hinduism.
