Berhampur: Police arrested a youth from the city for allegedly raping a girl for several months by blackmailing her to circulate her nude photographs on social media.
According to the complaint filed by the victim at Aska police station, the youth, identified as Kailash Chandra Sahu (32) of Aska Road in Berhampur, is the brother of one of her friends who had helped her take admission in Plus Two at Gopalpur College.
One day, Kailash took her forcibly to a hotel at Tulsinagar in Berhampur and raped her after giving her lassi laced with sedatives. Kailash also took some nude photographs and videos of the girl at that time.
In August 2020, Kailash wanted her to have physical relation with him. He blackmailed her that if she refused to his demand, he would make her nude photos and videos viral and raped her. He also threatened the girl and her family that if they approached police, he would throw acid on her and kill them.
Police have seized two mobile phones from Kailash and sent the victim and the accused to Aska Sub Divisional Hospital for medical examination.
“We have registered case on January 13 under Sections 294292 (2)(a), 354(C), 376 (2)(n)(J), 506, 509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 67 (A), 66 (E), 67 of IT Act,” said investigation officer PK Sahoo.
