Jharsuguda: A man was beaten to death by a group of unidentified miscreants at Mundapada village under Badamal police limits in Jharsuguda district on Friday.
According to sources, some miscreants severely thrashed Bijay Bhoi (40) of Harekrushnapur village in the district and kept him under water till he died. Later, they dumped his body on the road connecting Mundapada and Hirama and fled the spot.
On being informed, police reached the place and seized the body for postmortem.
Two persons, identified as Khabar Munda and Ajay Bariha, have been detained in connection with the case.
Bijay had been in jail for his alleged involvement in a murder case, which had taken place at Malada forest about one and a half years ago, and was out on bail for the six months back.
