Bhadrak: Police detained a young girl after her boyfriend allegedly committed suicide in a guest house in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Monday.
As per reports, 23-year-old Devraj Samal of Jalahari village under Bhandaripokhari police station in the district had booked a room online in the guest house near Charampa railway station. Devraj along with his girlfriend of Banta area checked in the guest house on Sunday evening.
In the wee hours of Monday, the girl woke up to find Devraj hanging from the fan in the room and cried for help. The staff of the guest house rushed to the spot and informed the police.
A team from Bhadrak Town police station went to the guest house and rushed Devraj to district headquarters hospital. But he was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
The police have sent the body for post-mortem and detained Devraj’s girlfriend for questioning. The cause of Devraj’s death would be known after getting post-mortem report, police sources said.
Meanwhile, Devraj’s family has alleged that he was murdered and demanded police investigation. Devraj had got appointment in a private company in Bhubaneswar a few days back, the sources said.
