Youth Critically Injured In Attack By Rival Gang Over Liquor Trade In Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: A youth was critically injured after he was attacked by a rival gang reportedly over country liquor trade in Odisha’s Balasore district on Sunday.

As per the reports, the victim, identified as Ganesh Singh along with some members of his gang had gone to the country liquor shop near the ice factory at Soro in the district. While they were busy in making transactions, two members of their rival gang armed with lethal weapons arrived there.

The miscreants attacked Ganesh and his gang members with weapons. Ganesh was critically injured as he was hacked with a machete. An accomplice if Ganesh was also injured in the attack.

After the assailants left the place on their bike, the locals rushed Ganesh and his gang member to hospital at Soro. Later, Ganesh was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital at Balasore as his condition deteriorated.

On being informed, a team from Soro police station went to the spot and questioned the locals who were present during the attack. The police have registered a case and launched an investigation.

Preliminary investigation by police revealed that Ganesh and his supporters had old rivalry with another gang from Balasore town over illegal country liquor trade in the district. The police have launched a manhunt to trace the assilants.
