Baripada: A young man died of accidental drowning in a river in Mayurbhanj district on Saturday.
According to sources, 27-year-old Simiran Das of Bhanjapur area in the town along with his friends had gone to Lulung near Similipal on a visit. While Simiran was taking bath in Palapala river there, he slipped into deep water and drowned.
On being informed by his friends, Fire personnel rushed to the spot and brought Simiran out of water. They sent him to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Hospital at Baripada where the doctors declared him brought dead.
Police have filed an unnatural death case and further investigation is on.
Simiran, who works as a state government employee in Bhubaneswar, had come to Baripada on leave.
