Youth Goes Missing While Bathing In Kathjodi River In Cuttack

Cuttack: A youth went missing while bathing in river Kathajodi in Odisha’s Cuttack city on Monday.

As per reports, the youth, identified as Chinmayee Pradhan of Gopalpur area in the city, had gone to take bath in the river near Bidyadharpur as per his daily practice. Chinmayee, who had a history of fits, suffered the attack while praying to Sun God after having the bath.

He fell into the water due to the fits and was pulled into deep water by the strong current of the river. When some people watched him drowning, they tried to save him. But they failed in their efforts due to the strong current.

On being informed, Fire Brigade went to the spot and started a search operation. But they also could not trace Chinmayee after a long search.

On Sunday, a youth went missing while bathing in a dam near a temple in Cuttack district. The youth along with five of his friends from Bidanasi in the city had gone on a picnic to Damadamani shrine in Mangarajpur panchayat under Choudwar police station in the district.

While four of them were bathing in the dam, which was filled to the capacity due to rains, their legs slipped and they went into deep water. Three of them managed to return to the banks of the dam while one went missing.

The Fire personnel recovered the body of the missing youth, identified as Ansuman Nayak, after around 18 hours of search on Monday.
