Cuttack: A man allegedly killed his younger brother following a family feud at a village in Gurudijhatia area of Odisha’s Cuttack district.
As per information, the incident took place at Khirikhia village under the jurisdiction of Gurudijhatia Police station in the district. The deceased has been identified as Barju Badara.
Sources said a heated argument erupted between the accused and his wife on Monday night. As the altercation escalated, the man who was reportedly in an inebriated state thrashed his wife.
Hearing the screams of the woman, the man’s younger brother Barju came and told him to stop beating her.
Infuriated over his intervention, the accused allegedly attacked his younger brother with a sharp weapon, causing him grievous injuries. Barju reportedly died on the spot.
After getting information about the incident, a police team from Gurudijhatia along with Cuttack district Rural SP Prateek Singh, reached the spot and initiated an investigation.
The body of the deceased was sent for post-mortem. The accused elder brother has been detained by the police and his interrogation is underway.
