Bhubaneswar: Police have unravelled the plot behind the alleged kidnapping of a youth by some miscreants near a shopping mall at Rasulgarh in Odisha capital on Tuesday evening.
The youth has been identified as Priyabrata Sahoo, a interior designer and a resident of Belabahali village under Anandapur police limits of Keonjhar district.
According to sources, police have traced the victim to Maitri Vihar in the city after tracking his phone. The kidnapping was allegedly planned by one Keshav Das after Priyabrata reneged on his promise to get him a government job and also refused to return Rs 20 lakh, which he had allegedly taken from him about three to four months back. Keshav had earlier lodged a complaint in this regard with Mancheswar police and also visited Ghasipura police station in Keonjhar, where he meet his family and a compromise was struck with the promise to return him the amount.
When Keshav spotted Priyabrata, who had long been playing hide and seek with him, last evening, he picked him up with help of his friends.
Police have reportedly spoken to Keshav about the entire incident.
Police action followed a complaint lodged by Priyabrata’s friend at Saheed Nagar police. Further investigation is underway, the sources added.
