Berhampur: A youth was allegedly shot dead by an unidentified miscreant at Kabisuryanagar in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Wednesday afternoon.
As per preliminary information, the incident took place when the youth was sitting on a cemented platform near Jateswar pond in the town in the afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Trinath Mallick, a resident of Naisahi area in Kabisuryanagar town.
The assailant reportedly fired at least two rounds of bullets at Trinath that hit his chest and head.
The attacker fled the site after committing the crime, while Trinath reportedly died on the spot.
The reason for the murder was yet to be ascertained.
After getting information, Kabisuryanagar police visited the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
