Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday released a ‘Flood Hazard Atlas for Odisha,’ which says that a staggering 14 lakh hectares of farm land every year get affected because of floods.
# With the release of this atlas, the CM said Odisha will be better placed to frame policies to tackle the issue.
# The atlas has been prepared after analysing all flood-related events and issues between 2000 and 2018.
# The National Remote Sensing Centre, Hyderabad and OSDMS have jointly prepared the atlas.

1. Against the backdrop of the monsoon setting over Odisha, the CM asked Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force and Fire Service Organisation to remain prepared with boats and other rescue equipment.
2. He asked the Rural Development and Housing and Urban Development Departments to make necessary arrangements for the supply of safe drinking water.
3. Further, he asked all departments to remain in utmost preparedness for immediate restoration of public utilities.
