Jajpur: Two persons including an old woman were killed and a pregnant woman was critical injured in a road accident in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Thursday.
As per reports, the accident took place when three persons, going on a motorcycle, collided with an oil tanker. The deceased persons were identified as Sudarshan Behera and Basanti Behera, while the pregnant woman is Purnima Behera of Biruhan Hatsahi under Jajapur Sadar police station.
While Sudarshan was taking the two women on his bike on National Highway 20, he collided with the tanker coming from opposite direction at Baruhan square in the afternoon. The old woman, Basanti Behera, died on the spot.
Sudarshan and Purnima, who sustained critical injuries in the accident, were rushed by the locals to the district headquarters hospital. But Sudarshan succumbed in the hospital. The condition of Purnima was stated to be critical.
On being informed, a team from Sadar police station went to the spot and started investigation.
