Bhubaneswar: It was a day Odisha FC women would like to forget in a hurry.

Up against the formidable Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies, Odisha FC were simply no match as they suffered a humiliating 0-17 defeat in a Group C fixture of the AFC Women’s Champions League 2024/25.

The Japanese side scored 8 goals in the first half and pumped in 9 more after change of ends at Thong Nhat Stadium in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday.

Yuzuho Shiokoshi netted a first-half hat-trick, while Miki Ito scored four goals in the second session.

Such was the relentless pressure exerted by Urawa Red Diamonds, Odisha FC even conceded an own goal when substitute Maryam Ibrahim put the ball in midway through the second session.

The scoreline could have been more embarrassing had goalkeeper Shreya Hooda not effected a number of fine saves.

Odisha FC will look to regroup quickly and find their feet in their next match, against local side Ho Chi Minh City Women’s FC on Wednesday.
