Bhubaneswar: As part of efforts to strengthen the wildlife protection drive, the Odisha government is planning to make appointment for 2000 forest guard posts in the state.
This was stated by Forest, Environment and Climate Change Minister Ganesh Ram Singhkhuntia during a visit to Keonjhar on Saturday. He said 2,000 forest guard posts in the state will be filled within three months
The Minister, who was graced the Subhadra Yojana awareness rath launch event in Keonjhar, told reporters that over 3,000 forest guard posts are lying vacant in the state at present and efforts are being made to fill the vacancies.
To begin with, the state government plans to fill around 2,000 vacant forest guard posts, he said.
The move comes close on the heels of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s announcement that 2,298 home guard posts lying vacant would be filled soon. The state government has already lifted the ban on recruitment of home guards, which was in force since February 2020.
Apart from home guards, the chief minister also informed that around 3000 vacant police posts would be filled in 100 days.
