Puri: Another boat, carrying around 50 passengers, got stuck in Chilika lake near Satapada in Odisha’s Puri district on Tuesday.

According to sources, the mechanised boat, which was carrying 30 bikes besides the passengers, left Satapada for Jahnikuda in the afternoon. After going for about 7 km in the lake, the boat stopped moving, sparking panic among the passengers.

Though the exact reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained, the boat is suspected to have got stuck due to receding water level in the lake.

It may be noted that a floating bridge vessel with around 100 passengers and several vehicles on board got stuck in the lake near Satapada on Sunday. However, the passengers were rescued in special boats.
