Haridwar: Another defamation case has been registered against Rahul Gandhi. This one is over his remark against Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) during the Bharat Jodo Yatra earlier this year.
Advocate Arun Bhadauria registered the case at Haridwar court in Uttarakhand on the basis of a complaint by RSS worker Kamal Bhadauria, ANI reported.
The senior Congress leader was last week disqualified as Lok Sabha MP after a Surat court sentenced him 2-year prison term in a defamation case over his comment ‘Why do all thieves have Modi in their names’.
The latest case pertains to his comment that RSS members are the ‘21st-century Kauravas’, made on January 9, 2023.
“Who were the Kauravas? I will first tell you about the 21st-century Kauravas. They wear khakhi half-pants, carry lathi in hand and hold shakhas; India’s 2-3 billionaires are standing with the Kauravas,” Rahul said during a street-corner meeting in Ambala, alluding to the RSS.
The matter will be heard on April 12.
Lalit Modi, the former IPL chairman, has also threatened to sue Rahul in a UK court on the ‘Modi thieves’ remark.
That’s not all. Rahul could be dragged to court for his comment on Veer Savarkar as well.
