Puri: Ashtadhatu idols, gold crown and ornaments of deities were allegedly stolen from Jaya Durga temple at Nuagaon village under Satyabadi block in Sakhigopal here on Friday night.
According to the sources, the priest reached the temple on Saturday morning and found locks broken. He informed the temple’s managing committee, following which, a police complaint regarding the theft of idols was lodged.
Valuable items, including Ashtadhatu idols, idols of Nilakantha, Gopinath, Somanath, and Radha Krushna and gold ornaments of deities had gone missing, informed the priest.
Satyabadi police started investigation into matter based on a complaint filed by the managing committee of the temple.
Tension prevailed among the locals over the stolen valuable of deities. They demanded a proper investigation into the matter.
