Bhubaneswar: The regional meteorological centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued thunderstorm and heavy rain alert for 11 districts of Odisha on Saturday.
The districts likely to be affected are Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Puri till 19:30 hours.
According to a Met bulletin, the latest doppler weather radar and images indicate that thunderstorm accompanied by lightning, gusty surface wind and heavy rain is likely to occur at these places.
People in these districts have been advised to stay indoors or shift to safe locations, if such weather conditions prevail.
