Bhubaneswar: The authorities of Jharpada Special Jail admitted Artha Tatwa (AT) Group chief Pradeep Sethy to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after he allegedly attempted suicide inside the jail.
Briefing the media, superintendent of Jharpada Jail Subhakanta Mishra said Sethy had come to the welfare office inside the jail for some works at 11.15 am. He had an altercation with some peons. Later, he pulled out a wire of an inverter in the office and went inside the toilet and attempted to commit suicide by wrapping it around his neck. Following information, the security guards broke open the toilet window and rescued him. He was later shifted to the SCB and admitted to the Psychiatric ward.
Mishra said that the chit fund accused had earlier made two suicide attempts inside the jail by cutting his hands with a sharp iron and crushing his head on the jail railing.
