Bhubaneswar: Back-to-back low pressures in Bay of Bengal are likely to trigger heavy rainfall across Odisha till August 3.

According to a bulletin of SOA’s Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) in Bhubaneswar on Monday, a low pressure area is likely to form over west central Bay of Bengal and adjacent north west bay off south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coast on Tuesday.

Under its influence, widespread rainfall is expected across south Odisha districts on Tuesday and Wednesday with heavy precipitation at a few places.

The districts, which are likely to receive the rains, include Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput,  Nabarangpur, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur, the bulletin said.

The system could intensify into a depression on July 26 and north Odisha districts would experience rainfall from July 28.

The CEC forecast that another low pressure area is likely to develop in the Bay on July 30. It may trigger heavy to very heavy rainfall in north Odisha districts from July 31 to August 3, it added.
