Bhubaneswar: Durga puja pandals in Bhubaneswar will have some added facilities for the visitors like mobile toilets and special way for the senior citizens this year.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) held a review meeting with the representatives of the puja committees on preparation for during Dussehra on Saturday.
BMC commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange called upon the puja organisers to ensure a clean and peaceful celebration and assured them of total cooperation from the municipality. He suggested them to prevent use of plastic materials and keep garbage disposal boxes at the pandals.
Total 185 pandals will put up to offer puja to Devi Durga in the city. Two new pandals have been proposed this year.
Every pandal will have an ambulance and a medical team to attend to any emergency health problem of the visitors. For the convenience of the devotees, who are expected to turn up in thousands in all three days of the puja, mobile toilets and water tanks will be kept near the pandals.
A team of BMC will camp at every pandal so that its officials and local corporator can resolve any problem urgently. They will be available round-the-clock to render their services.
The BMC stressed on preventive measures against fire mishaps and electricity related incidents. The puja organisers were told to keep the generators ready 24×7 in case of powercut so that the miscreants cannot take advantage of it, particularly at night.
