New Delhi: A committee of experts will visit Odisha on Thursday to assess the wildfire situation and provide technical assistance to state officials to contain the raging blaze in the forests of the state.
Union Forest and Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar tweeted about sending the panel of experts soon after a delegation of BJP MPs from Odisha led by Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan met him in New Delhi this morning.
The panel will comprise officials from Forest Research Institute, forest conservationists and fire experts.

Meanwhile, Dr Sandeep Tripathi, the former PCCF who is heading the task force constituted by the Odisha government, told the media that fire points in Odisha have come down from 3258 on March 8 to 290 on March 10. The Simlipal forest fire has now been contained, he added.
