Bhubaneswar: Denizens of Bhubaneswar will get an opportunity to taste different varieties of quality mangoes as Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS) jointly with Odisha Livelihood Mission (OLM) under the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department will organise an exhibition-cum-sale of mangoes, titled, ‘State Level Mango Festival- 2019’ in the first week of June.
The festival aims to give a boost to the mango industry and provide a better platform to tribal farmers to showcase and sell their farm produce directly to the customers without any middlemen.
A variety of locally produced fresh, hand-plucked mangoes, which are free from chemical applications will be showcased at the fest.
Varieties of mangoes like, Amrapali, Daseri, Mallika, Lengeda, Baiganpali, Himasagar, Totapuri, Sundari etc. will be available.
Additional Chief Executive Officer of ORMAS, Swayamprabha Mohanty and Deputy Director (Marketing) Sujoy Kar prepared a blueprint of the event after thorough discussion with district level officials, representatives of producers’ companies and groups of eight major mango producing districts of Odisha.
The festival is slated to be held from June 1 to 5 in the vicinity of the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) campus near CRP Square here.
