Cuttack: In view of the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Orissa High Court on Monday said that its functioning from Tuesday shall be restricted to urgent cases only. Routine matters will not be taken up for the time being till the threat persists.

Urgent cases that cannot wait may be mentioned before the Deputy Registrar (Judicial) during the mentioned hour. The nature of urgency and the assigned bench should be clearly mentioned in the memo. The Deputy Registrar shall place these before the Court for obtaining instruction regarding the listing, said the court.

Besides, personal appearance of the parties unless indispensable, would not be insisted and no adverse order will be passed for the absence of any lawyer or litigant on account of illness.

The court has requested the Bar not to recommend the issuance of visitor passes during this period and to avoid congregation inside and outside the court rooms.

Considering the importance of the safety measures for health, all concerned are requested to cooperate in this regard, in the interest of all, said a notice issued by the Registrar (Judicial) LK Dash.
