Rayagada: At least two children are among 49 persons in DFO Colony area here have been identified with COVID symptoms in the past three days forcing the district authorities to declare the entire slum area ‘Containment Zone’.
As many as 27 persons of Jhodia Street and two of Dalit Street near DFO Colony have been identified with clear symptoms of COVID in the past couple of days. During a swab examination, 45 persons in Jhodia Street tested positive in addition to two children on Saturday.
The officials of the Health Department have swung into action while the civic administration has notified the slum close to DFO Colony as ‘Containment Zone’. The officials have begun supplying ration to the residents in “home isolation”.
There is also an alarming rise in COVID cases in the urban areas of Rayagada. In this connection, District Health Officer Artabandhu Nayak has advised the people to maintain social distance and ensure that hands are sanitised frequently.
