Puri: People outside Puri town can conduct the last rites of their near and dear ones at Swargadwar here from August 16.
Puri Sub-Collector Bhabatarana Sahu told the media on Saturday a maximum of 10 people will be allowed during the cremation, which will be conducted with strict adherence to the COVID protocols.
The COVID-19 negative certificate of the deceased is mandatory, he said.
However, there will be no cremation during the weekend shutdown on Saturdays and Sundays, he added.
On April 26, the Puri administration had imposed restrictions on the cremation of bodies from outside the district at the ‘divine’ crematorium of the Pilgrim Town amid a steady rise in COVID-19 cases in the district
