Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic circulation over northern parts of West Bengal and the neighbourhood is likely to trigger moderate to heavy rain in most parts of Odisha on Wednesday.
According to an India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast bulletin on Tuesday, the cyclonic circulation over Odisha and the neighbourhood lies over the south coast of the state and neighbourhood and extends up to 4.5 km above mean sea level.
It further said that the cyclonic circulation over interior Odisha and the neighbourhood had merged with the cyclonic circulation over south coastal Odisha and neighbourhood.
Under its influence, light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at many places in the state on Wednesday, when the immersion ceremony of Goddess Durga will be held.
Heavy rain forecast has been made for the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal and Koraput.
The IMD has also issued yellow warning for 19 districts – Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Bargarh, Balasore, Dhenkanal, Angul, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Khurdha, Gajapati, Ganjam, Koraput, Kandhamal and Kalahandi. These districts will experience thunderstorm with lightning on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, rain dampened the puja spirits on Vijay Dashami with light to moderate rainfall at many places in North Odisha district and at a few places in South Odisha. One or two places in Keonjhar and Sundargarh districts experienced heavy rainfall.
