Puri: Senior BJD leader and former minister Damodar Rout on Wednesday said the present state of affairs in the regional party indicate intra-party rebellion in the coming days.
Though the veteran leader parried a question on the suspension of Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda from primary membership of the party, saying it was up to the party supremo to decide on the matter, he did not rule out a possible rebellion in the party in the near future.
Citing the example of freedom fighter Buxi Jagabandhu’s uprising against the British 200 years ago, he said the Paik rebellion did not start immediately after the Britishers came to India.
“Was there a Paik rebellion when the Britishers arrived in Odisha in 1804? The rebellion began after several years of British rule. You know what I mean. Just wait and see what is going to happen,” he quipped.
