Bhubaneswar: The Block Development Officers (BDOs) of Dhamnagar and Tihidi in Bhadrak district have been transferred by the Odisha government ahead of the by-poll to the Dhamnagar Assembly constituency. The Panchayati Raj & DW Department issued a notification regarding the transfer of the BDOs.
As per the notification, the Bhadrak Collector has been asked to relieve Dhamnagar BDO Durga Charan Murmu and Tihidi BDO Basant Sahani immediately in view of the by-election to the Dhamnagar Assembly constituency.
Laxmipur tehsildar Banabihari Dinda will be posted as BDO in Dhamnagar while Kesinga tehsildar Jyotirmaya Kar will join as Tihidi BDO. The Koraput and Kalahandi Collectors have been requested to relieve the two OAS officers immediately.
It is noteworthy that the office of Sub-Collector, Bhadrak, issued a formal notification on Friday for by-election to the Dhamnagar Assembly constituency scheduled to be held on November 3.
The by-poll to Dhamnagar Assembly constituency was necessitated following the death of incumbent BJP MLA Bishnu Sethi, who died of kidney-related problems at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar on September 19. The two-time MLA was hospitalised for the past two months. He was serving as the deputy leader of the opposition in the Assembly.
