Former Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir and National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah said that no one was allowed to enter or leave his house on Monday, contrary to what Home Minister Amit Shah had claimed.
Amit Shah on Tuesday told Parliament that Farooq Abdullah has not been detained or arrested.
“Whatever the Home Minister claims about my absence is a complete lie. It is baseless. I am totally jailed. They have stationed a DSP outside my house. I can’t even visit my daughter who lives a few metres away. There is a lock outside her door,” said the emotional 81-year-old patriarch and broke down while talking to CNN IBN.
“For them, all Muslims are separatists. Is this what we deserve? I have never thought of this… not even in my wildest dream,” he added.
Abdullah had termed the special status withdrawal as “dictatorial” and “undemocratic” in separate interviews. He also said that the Constitution of India had guaranteed 370 and these special ‘powers to the state’ were promised to Kashmiris at the time of its accession to India.
Apart from Farooq Abdullah, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, National Conference leader and Abdullah’s son Omar Abdullah and Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference (JKPC) leader Sajjad Lone were among the prominent leaders detained since Sunday evening.
