Sambalpur: Five more MBBS students at the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla have tested positive for Covid-19, taking the number of cases reported from the medical college to 56 so far.
On Wednesday, 16 MBBS students of the college had tested positive for COVID-19. On Tuesday, more than 30 students had tested positive leading the VIMSAR authorities to declare some hostels and staff quarters as micro-containment and buffer zones.
The students apparently showed symptoms of COVID-19 after the annual function UTKARASH-2021 from November 13 and 14.
The infected students are under isolation and are being constantly monitored by doctors of the hospital.
