New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected a petition to lift communication restrictions in Jammu and Kashmir.
Nothing could be done overnight and the government needs to be given time, the top court said in response to the petition filed by activist Tehseen Poonawala.
Attorney General K K Venugopal told the court that restrictions were implemented keeping in mind the aftermath of Burhan Wani’s death in July 2016. He also said that the restrictions would slowly be eased. Not a single life has been lost in J&K, the AG said.
