Bhadrak: Transportation of coal to Dhamra Port was disrupted after a goods train derailed near Jijharpur under Tihidi police limits in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Monday morning.
The incident took place around 6.45 am when seven wagons of a goods train went off the track and fell into a paddy field near Jijharpur. A pair of wheels of a wagon was also found lying at a distance from the place where the incident took place.
On being informed, the railway authorities and senior officials of the Port rushed to the spot.
While the exact cause of the derailment was not immediately known, sources said due to heavy rain in the Bhadrak district since the last three days, a portion of the railway track had sunk leading to the derailment.
Efforts to repair the damaged track had begun till reports came in.
