Cuttack: It’s Bali Jatra month here. The state’s biggest and oldest trade fair has extended its wings to Bhubaneswar and other cities of Odisha. Following the success of Bali Jatra in the Odisha capital last year, it will be held this year as well on the banks of the Kuakhai river beginning November 12.
The 8-day fair will also start on the same day in the Millennium City. It will conclude on November 19 at both places.
In Bhubaneswar, the festival was initiated in 2017 with just 30 stalls. This year, there will be 500 stalls along with swings and amusement rides, in true Katki Bali Jatra fashion.
There will be cultural programmes, showcasing Odisha’s rich maritime history here, as well.
Around 10,000 visitors are expected to flock to the fair in Bhubaneswar and nearly a lakh to that in Cuttack every day. Elaborate security arrangements, including personnel and CCTV cameras, are being put in place for smooth conduct of the festival.
Traders have been instructed to adhere to a polythene-free environment.
