Berhampur: Narmada Behere heaved a sigh of relief after getting back her necklace worth around Rs 1.6 lakh, which she had accidentally left in an autorickshaw a few days ago while travelling from New Bus Stand to Gopalpur in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
“I have been spending sleepless nights for the last few days. I am very happy and thankful to the autorickshaw driver,” she said.
Narayan Swain, the officer-in-charge of the police outpost, also appreciated the honesty of the driver, Pankaj Behera.
According to sources, the female passenger called up the autorickshaw driver, whom she knew beforehand, when she realised that the necklace was not in her purse after reaching home on Wednesday. He checked the vehicle but did not find anything that day.
The following day, the 35-year-old autorickshaw spotted the ornament weighing around 30 gm underneath the passenger seat while cleaning his vehicle and immediately informed the police and the passenger’s family.
