Bhubaneswar: Giving thrust to non-academic activities of the students, the state government has directed the colleges to start ‘Juba Sanskar’ class from next year.
In a letter to government and government aided degree colleges under the Higher Education department, principal secretary, Education department, Saswat Mishra on Thursday emphasised on ‘Juba Sanskar’, stating that character building should be one of the objectives of education system.
Directing them to start the class from January 1 next year in their institutions, the principal secretary said at least one ‘Juba Sanskaar’ period of standard duration should be held for the students of UG and PG semesters in a month.
Freely available short audio visual films on character building themes like staying away from drugs/tobacco, imbibing patriotism and developing a sense of respect to women and seniors would be screened in the class.
However, there will be no assessment and evaluation or credit points for the non-academic classroom activities, the letter stated.
