Bhubaneswar: Readings from the Srimad Bhagavata written by Prasanna Kumar Patnaik was released by Ramakantha Rath here on Thursday.
The book release was followed by a discussion with the author and a panel of reviewers comprising former VC of North Odisha University Prof Prafulla Kumar Mishra, eminent historian Dr Nivedita Mohanty, and founder of Srujanika, Dr Nikhil Mohan Patnaik. Rajesh Mahapatra, founder-director of Odisha Dialogues moderated the discussion.
Published by Dhauli Books, this seminal scholarly work studies Ati Badi Jagannatha Dasa’s Odia Bhagavata, bringing together selections from his composition and the original verses from Sanskrit Srimad Bhagavata.
It provides an original narration of the 12 Skandhas/cantos of the Bhagavata in English, making the Bhagavata accessible to the contemporary reader.
