Kasturi Panda Cracks Civil Services Exam Without Coaching; Know The Other Successful Candidates From Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Anup Das is the topper from Odisha with 38th rank in Civil Services Exam 2022 followed by Pranita Dash and Kasturi Panda, who secured 42nd and 67th ranks respectively.

At least 18 candidates cracked the examination, which is probably one of the best performances of the state so far. Tejaswini Behera, who had secured the top rank in Odisha Civil Services Examination (OCSE), featured at 516 position on the list.

Soumya Ranjan Dash (136), Durga Prasad Adhikary (162), Sushree Suvangi Khuntia (248), Satya Prakash Mishra (261), Ayushi Pradhan (334),Rashmi Pradhan (405), Rakesh Kumar Sahoo (575), Pratama Partikhya Pradhan (670), Suvasnnigdha Sethi (680), Subham Mishra (688), Nivedita Das (848), Manas Jyoti Das (881), Sidhanta Besra (887) and Hare Krishna Meher (931) are also among the 933 candidates recommended for appointment to the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and Central Services Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) declared the results on Tuesday.

Pranita Dash cracked the exam on her second attempt after 3 years of hard work. She is currently doing her MPhil in Economics at University of Cambridge. “Revision, practice and mock tests before the exam helped me,” she said adding that her uncle Justice Debabrata Dash had inspired her to appear for the exam.

She also expressed her gratitude to her parents and siblings for their support in this journey and for motivating her whenever she felt low.  “I was drawn towards civil services because of the impact it has on the society. I want to join the IAS as it would provide me with an opportunity to serve at the grassroots and impact the lives of the vulnerable,” she added.

Kasturi cracked the UPSC exam on her second attempt without any coaching. “I studied on my own. I opted for sociology even though I did not have it as a subject in my graduation and prepared on my own. Proper dedication and diligence is required to crack the exam,” said this engineering graduate from NIT-Rourkela who happy with her rank.

She would like to opt for Indian Administrative Service and work in the field of technology, education and for women.

It was also a second attempt for Tejaswini. “I am hoping to get Indian Revenue Service,” said this JNU alumnus and a native of Cuttack.

Tejaswini, who had topped OCSE 2020 in her first attempt, said she would appear for the exam again and improve her rank. “I started preparing for the competitive exam after post graduation. I used to study for 8-10 hours, did revision and appeared for mock tests,” she added.

Electrical engineer from IIT-Kanpur Soumya Ranjan Das, left his corporate job after qualifying the prelims, would also appear for the exam again to improve his rank.

It was the fourth attempt for Satya Prakash Mishra, who is working as an Odisha government officer, and he secured 261st rank without joining any coaching centre.
