Madurai: M Nethra, a 13-year-old daughter of a salon owner in Madurai, has been appointed as a ‘Goodwill Ambassador for the Poor’ by United Nations Association for Development and Peace (UNADAP).
The girl convinced her father to give Rs 5 lakh to help the needy that he had saved for her education.
Tamil Nade Minister Sellar Raju praised the girl for her kind gesture and said that he will urge Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to bestow the Jayalalithaa Award to her.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also praised C Mohan, Nethra’s father, in his monthly broadcast ‘Mann ki baat’ for giving his savings to help the people in distress during the lockdown.
