Bhawanipatna: Govind Sahu, the prime accused in the murder of schoolteacher Mamita Meher, has falsely implicated his driver Radheshyam Chandi, alias Radhe, said Radhe’s wife Asha Chandi on Friday.
Claiming that Radhe was innocent, Asha said, “If he was involved in her murder, why would I voluntarily hand over the bag containing the materials not belonging to us to the police?”
Earlier, Asha gave the bag that was kept under the bed in her house to personnel of Kegaon police station in Kalahandi district. The bag contained 3 pairs of women’s garments, a mobile phone and charger and some medicines, she said.
“When I handed over the bag, policemen told me not to reveal about it to anybody,” Asha told a local TV channel.

On Radhe’s relation with Govind, Asha said initially, the president of the Sunshine English Medium School at Mahaling appointed him to work as a driver.
“After Radhe worked for some days, Govind told him to do his household works on daily wage basis. In fact, Radhe was doing the manual jobs in his house for the last three months and did not drive Govind’s car during the period. He has not driven the car to the school all these days. How can he be involved the murder of Mamita?,” asked Asha.
“My husband is a simple and innocent person. He has never harmed anybody in his life. He cannot get involved in any kind of criminal activities. You can ask about him from the villagers,” she said.
Alleging that Govind has implicated him in the case, Asha said Radhe has not told her anything about Mamita or her murder.
