Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Western Odisha continued to reel under scorching heat on Wednesday. Jharsuguda recorded the highest temperature of 44 degree Celsius, the highest of the season so far. The temperature in Sonepur stood at 43.9 degree Celsius on the day against 43 degrees on Tuesday.
According to the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, the mercury soared above 40 degree Celsius at 12 places.
Balangir recorded 43.2 degree Celsius on the day while the mercury touched 43 degrees in Titilagarh followed by Angul at 42.7, Boudh 42, Talcher and Sambalpur 41.6, Bhawanipatna and Sundargarh 41.5, Paralakhemundi 40.5 and Hirakud 40.3 degree Celsius.
The capital city also sizzled at 38.5 degrees while Cuttack registered 37.8 degree Celsius.
The Met office further stated that the maximum temperature is likely to be more than 40 degree C and above normal by 2 to 4 degree C at many places over the districts of interior Odisha during next 2 days. People have been advised to take precautionary measure for hot weather condition while going outside during midday 12-3 pm.
