Bhubaneswar: Higher Education Minister Ananta Das, on Friday, warned of taking action against the agitating teachers, if they do not stop their protest immediately.
The teachers have been on an indefinite strike at Mahatma Gandhi Marg since Thursday, resulting in suspension of classes.
“The students’ education is suffering ahead of the examinations. Therefore, I request the agitating teachers to join their duties at the earliest,” the Minister said, adding that their issues can be resolved through discussion.
On the other hand, Odisha School Sikshak Karmachari Milita Manch Convenor Pabitra Mahala said, “We have been providing selfless services since the last 20 years. We will continue to protest till our demands are met.”
“It is unfortunate that the government has made it compulsory for the teachers and staff to submit personal affidavit to be eligible for the revised grant-in-aid salary. We condemn such decision,” Mahala added.
