Bhadrak: Tension prevailed at Chandbali in Bhadrak district on Sunday afternoon following the death of nine-year-old boy after being allegedly administered wrong injections by a pharmacist.

Demanding compensation and immediate action, the irate locals blocked the Chandbali road.

According to the sources, the minor boy identified as Kuna, son of Saroj Mahalik of Icchapur village in the district, was suffering from fever since the last two days. Saroj took him to pharmacist Manas Panda in the village. The family members alleged that the pharmacist administered two injections, following which Kuna died.

They demanded arrest of the pharmacist by keeping the body in front of Motto police outpost in the district.

“My son was suffering from typhoid and urine infection problem. The pharmacist gave him two injections, following which, he died immediately,” said Saroj.

The police later assured them to conduct an inquiry into the incident and initiate action against the pharmacist if found guilty.
