Jharsuguda: News of a woman who had not undergone a medical checkup after her return from Italy spread like wildfire here, creating a panic among the people.
The matter came to the fore on Monday, when officials at the district control room received a call, informing them about a woman who had returned from Italy. The caller also said that neither she nor her family members had informed the health department about it.
A local medical team rushed to the address on Monday night to enquire about the woman’s travel history and then carried out certain tests.
Chief District Medical Officer Dr Jagdish Chandra Barik said the woman had returned from Italy in February and was asymptomatic. However, a district-level medical team visited her today to carry out tests. They have advised her and her family members home quarantine until her test report arrives.
