Bhubaneswar: In a good news for animal lovers, the Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) in Bhubaneswar has decided to acquire a pair of cheetahs, some exotic white lions and other animals from abroad.
Steps are being taken to bring a pair of cheetahs and a few white lions to Nandankanan from a zoo in Dubai under an animal exchange programme in January next year.
Giving this information, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (wildlife) Susanta Nanda said some new species of birds will be acquired by Nandankanan zoo from abroad under the programme
This apart, the authorities of NZP have planned to bring some giraffes from Alipore Zoological Garden in West Bengal under another animal exchange programme, he said.
As per reports, the NZP will bring a male and a female cheetah in exchange for five Manipur brow-antlered deer.
Similarly, Nandankanan will get a few African white lions in exchange for five blackbucks with Dubai Safari Park in UAE.
