New Delhi: The National Commission of Scheduled Castes (NCSC) on Tuesday decided to send a three-member team to Odisha on February 11 to probe into the alleged gang rape of a minor girl who later committed suicide in her house at Musaguda village in Koraput district on January 22 this year.
The decision of the Commission came after hearing a writ petition filed by Koraput Congress MLA Krushna Chandra Sagaria.
According to NCSC chairman Ram Shankar Katheria, a three-member team of the Commission would visit Koraput district quarters on February 11. Later, it will visit Kunduli for an on-the-spot investigation into the alleged gang rape of the victim.
From Kunduli, the team will visit Musaguda, the native of the victim, and collect details from the family members about the cause and circumstances forcing the victim to commit suicide.
Katheria also made it clear that if necessary, the team will call up the state chief secretary and the Director General of Police (DGP) to know about the steps taken by the state government on this incident so far.
He also said if the necessity arises, he would personally visit the state and take up the case in person.
