Baripada: A day after their birth caught media attention, the newborn quadruplets died at Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital here on Wednesday night.
Jhunu Rani Dhal (20), a native of Shingada village under Shulipada block in Mayurbhanj district, had delivered three girls and a boy at the hospital in the district at around 1.18 pm on Tuesday.
It was a normal delivery and the four babies weighed around 680 gm, 580 gm, 730 gm and 900 gm respectively.
The deliveries, however, were pre-mature since she was at the end of the seventh month of pregnancy. The newborns were, therefore, kept at Sick Newborn Care Unit of the hospital.
Though the health condition of the premature babies was initially good, later they died one after another.
